Full Description
No. 28 & 30 King Street consist of two semi detached cottages probably built in the 17th century although substantially altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are one and half storeys, brick built with a grey slate roof. They were included on the English Heritage Listed Building Register in 1972. (2)
An opportunity to examine the foundations of the cottages was presented in 1976 when large scale renovations were being undertaken. The evidence recovered included several blocks of sandstone under an extension to No 30 and set in the post medieval cultivation soil. A small number of 18th century finds were recovered however they were largely unstratified. (1)
