Full Description
Evidence of medieval stone robbing of earlier Roman structures was recorded during archaeological investigations to the east of Goss Street in 1948. Two trenches excavated at the site recorded several robber trenches that removed stonework down to the third century level, the layer of brown soil and debris later interpreted as a the second century military hiatus layer (CHER 8495) was undisturbed however.
