Full Description
Archaeological investigations at St Martin’s Way in 2005 recorded evidence of a thick soil layer formed possibly through agricultural or garden action in the 18th century. Finds recovered from this layer were exclusively 18th century in date and included pottery, clay tobacco pipe and glass. The soil was later cut by a series of narrow linear trenches tentatively interpreted as garden bedding trenches from the mid 18th century onwards (1)
