Full Description
Archaeological investigations at Bolland’s Court in 2001 recorded traces of an earlier structure underlying the present warehouse. The evaluation, carried out in advance of proposed redevelopment identified two truncated walls [Contexts 6, 9] at a depth of approximately 1m below present ground level. Although no physical relationship between the two walls was established both shared similarities in construction with a similar reddish brown mortar recovered from both.
No dating evidence was recovered from the walls although they clearly predated the early 19th century warehouse. (1)
