Full Description
Evidence of post medieval activity to the rear of St Andrew’s Church was recorded during archaeological investigations in 2007. The evidence comprised a single pit feature from Trench A containing material of a 16th century date and a drain and pit in Trench C containing 17th century material to the rear of the plot. In addition, two post medieval soil layers were recorded in trenches D and E to the rear.
The artefacts recovered from the features included a single lump of copper alloy slag and a small quantity of 16th century pottery from the earlier pit in Trench A and larger quantities of pottery, clay pipe and glass from the 17th century pit in Trench C. (1)
