Full Description
A wooden spade, previously found amongst other Roman artefacts at Godstall Lane in 1898 has been recently re-examined and it is has been suggested that it may in fact be medieval in origin (1). The spade was not found in a stratified deposit (i.e. it could not be dated by its relative depth and position in relation to other Roman artefacts). (2)
