Summary

Two air-raid shelters were recorded during archaeological investigations at Frodsham Street car park in 2011, documentary evidence suggest much of the area was used for air raid shelters during World War II.

Full Description

Two air-raid shelters were recorded during archaeological investigations at Frodsham Street car park in 2011. One was located at the extreme southern end of the site in trenches 2 & 4 and the other towards the north in trench 5. It was suggested by the excavator that other wartime shelters are likely to survive across this area. (1)
