Summary

A number of finds from Grosvenor Street (then Grosvenor Road) in the early half of the 19th centruy have been recorded. Finds included a terracotta mask in the form of a female face, a lachrymatory and several coins.

Full Description

A number of small finds have been recovered during work along Grosvenor Road in the 19th century.

In 1828 when the road was newly constructed, some Roman pottery was recovered during the cutting of a sewer line including a mask in the style of a female face (1, 2)

Subsequently in 1832 a beaker or lachrymatory of red earthenware, a number of additional vessels and several coins were recovered (2)
