Summary

A substantial block of masonry was recorded at Pepper Street in 1941, although originally thought to be modern it has since been suggested it formed part of the Roman baths.

Full Description

A substantial block of masonry was recovered during excavations on the north side of Pepper Street in 1941. Although originally believed to be a modern intrusion into the Roman structural remains (1) the feature has been subsequently suggested to be Roman, perhaps associated with the Roman baths at Bridge Street (2)
