Full Description
Archaeological investigations at St Martin’s Way in 2010 recorded evidence of a probable Roman pit and a second feature in trench 3 of the evaluation. The pit was encountered in the north eastern corner of the trench while the second feature was encountered in the eastern edge of the trench and could not be sufficiently excavated to determine its form and function. Both features cut an earlier thin deposit of yellow clay. (1)
The pit was the only feature to produce datable material comprising a number of sherds of late first to early second century date. (1)
