Full Description

Evidence of Roman industrial activity has been recorded to the south of King Street during a series of archaeological investigations between 1998 and 2002. An evaluation carried out in 1998 recorded traces of Roman activity, interpreted as industrial activity, in a series of small trenches across the site.

The evidence comprises a series of Roman deposit layers including a primary deposit of soil and occupation material up to 0.35m thick that could be interpreted as a possible occupation horizon (2)
