Full Description

Archaeological evaluation carried out in advance of construction of a new Song School at Chester Cathedral recorded traces of possible Roman activity. A limited excavation carried out within the east cloister in 2002-2003 recorded a ditch or drain adjacent to a timber slot of probable Roman origin (CHER 8281). The drain remained open until the Norman period however. (1)
