Full Description

Archaeological investigations at Crook Street in 1973 recorded traces of a late Roman structure in the east-west aligned alley (CHER 8285) leaning against the centurion’s house (CHER 8499). This sandstone wall of this structure was located along a stretch of approximately 3.60m of the north wall of the centurion’s house, however it was severely truncated by later deposits and its exact form and function could not be determined.
