Monument record 8149 - Roman cut feature at Princess Street

Evidence of Roman activity was encountered during archaeological investigations at Princess Street in 2002 in the area of the large courtyard building at the centre of the fortress. The results from the excavation recorded a cut feature of a probable second century date cutting an earlier deposit of a likely Roman date. Only the eastern edge of the cut feature [Context 122] was recorded at the base of the trench, the fill of which contained second century pottery inscribed with the letters ‘VS’. (1)
