Full Description
Traces of a metalled surface was recorded leading up to the Roman postern gate on the East Wall during archaeological investigations by Prof Newstead in 1935. Its maximum width appeared to by 4.57m that must have narrowed at the point where it encountered the gate. The road surface comprised boulders and broken sandstone. (1)
