Full Description
Archaeological investigations to the rear of 27-29 Bridge Street have recorded evidence of a deposit interpreted as a surface (1) or an east-west aligned cambered road (2) Possibly associated with the road surface encountered to the east (CHER 8287)
An evaluation in 1996 recorded evidence of a deliberate construction layer in Trench K approximately 40m from the Bridge Street frontage containing some fragments of late first century pottery, this was sealed by a layer of compacted clay containing cobble and sandstone fragments originally interpreted as floor surface [Context 125] (1)
