Full Description
Found during the course of construction work under the pavement in front of Parry’s Coach Factory, later Richardson’s China Shop on the north side of Foregate St. (possibly at 79 Foregate St.) in 1900, was a length of lead pipe, believed to have been Roman, found discharging into a small brick drain (1).
This was c 3.7m further to the south than CHER 8141 (a pavement found at the same time), and was observed for a length of about 1.4m (1). The 1:500 First Edition map of 1875 identifies 79 Foregate St. as a ‘Coach Manufactory.’
