Full Description
Hoard of 14 silver medieval coins. 6 coins reported to Grosvenor Museum on 26 March 1992 and further 8 on 2 April 1992. Hoard consists of 3 pennies Edward I, 3 groats Edward III, 1 half-groat Edward III, 5 pennies Edward III & 1 very worn penny of Edward I - III. Also a sixpence of Elizabeth I dated 1582. Hoard found in field known as 'Higher Bannisters Hays', off Rake Lane, Christleton. A collection of base metal objects with a small group of 18th - 19th century pottery came from the same field. The brass and bronze includes some 17 or 18 badly worn coins, one of which is a Roman 3rd century Barbarous Radiate (see RN:1912/0/2) (1).
