Winnington Park Recreation Club was commissioned by John Brunner and Ludwig Mond as part of the chemical works 25th anniversary. It served as a recreational and sports club for their workers and was located within a sports field from where it was designed to be viewed and which it was designed to overlook. It was built in 1898 by local builder William Wood. It is a timber structure with tiled roof in a pavilion style, and was designed with techniques to reduce the effects of subsidence. The building was extended twice, first in 1923 and again in 1937. The building is still in use as a recreation club.
