Full Description
An adult skeleton, found in isolation but in association with Roman period contexts, cut into natural subsoil, found in the area of the former St Augustine's Convent (1). The burial was in semi-crouched position with the right arm flexed behind the spinal column and the left arm flexed to place the hand by the left shoulder. The left leg of the skeleton was also partly flexed. The spinal column was dislocated near the pelvis, probably due to settling (1).
The remains were within a sub-rectangular cut, aligned north-south but only clearly identified on the east side where it cut natural subsoil (1). Because of its nearby features and overlying deposits, it is thought to be of probable Roman date (1).
