Summary

Wood pipes recorded during salvage fieldwork along the Boughton Road in 1978. The pipes were found alongside several sherds of Roman pottery and may have come from the aqueduct supplying the fortress.

Full Description

Brief record of wooden water pipes seen and photographed in 1978 during a road widening scheme in Boughton. The waterpipes were found adjacent to a pebbled surface thought to have been the Roman road (See CHER 844/1/21). Two sherds of Gaulish pottery were recovered apparently from a bowl with a suggested date of AD 80-110 (1)
