“The Regal” as the building was originally known, was constructed in 1928 for the Alderley Edge Musical Festival. Later, Festival Hall became the Regal Cinema and Dance Hall in 1938.

Heritage statement produced in 2012 for the Alderley Edge Festival Hall, a locally listed building. It was built in 1927 as the home for a successful annual music festival. The festival was established in 1911 by the then Chairman of the Halle Concerts Society, Philip Godley, who lived in Alderley Edge. The building was designed by the Manchester architects Halliday and Agate. The building has continued to the present day as the base for the music festival, but has also served as a cinema, dance hall and entertainments venue.
