An early eighteenth century house with a date plaque recording the date 1724. This house is one of two in the area which claims to be the be birthplace of Emma Lyon, later Lady Emma Hamilton, and Dame Emma Hamilton.

House, 1724 with later alterations. Pitched slate roof with parapeted gables, five pot chimney stacks flush to each gable. two storeys plus attic. Two no. floor bands (string courses) to north-western and south-eastern sides. Walls, colour wash cement on brown brick, drip moulds to window heads. Windows a mixture of modern replacements, some sash. Nineteenth century canted bay window to ground storey tablet at first storey inscribed I:L SL 1724. Claimed to be birthplace of Emma Lyon, later Lady Hamilton, although this claim is also made by Smiths Cottages, Ness.
