Swan Cottage LL33 (Previously LL NS/3)

Date: 1724 with later alterations
Description: Pitched slate roof with parapeted gables, 5 pot chimney stacks flush to each gable. 2 storeys plus attic. 2 no. floor bands (string courses) to NW and SE sides. Walls, colour wash cement on brown brick, drip moulds to window heads. Windows a mixture of modern replacements, some sash. C19 canted bay window to ground storey tablet at first storey inscribed I:L SL 1724. Claimed to be birthplace of Emma Lyon, later Lady Hamilton, although this claim is also made by Smiths Cottages, Ness.
Condition: Good
Current use: In use as dwelling.
