Summary

Lydiate Cottage was built around 1858 (date stone to front elevation) It is a Mid-Victorian villa with stables and outbuildings. Pitched slate roof, banded mixture of blue/grey Welsh slates and shaped Westmorland green slate. It has large sandstone decorative chimneys to front and rear. The walls are constructed of rusticated coursed local sandstone and ther is a single small pitched gable to front first floor above 4 pane hinged casement window. The cottage has a distinctive monopitch slated porch/verandah to ground floor front elevation with single square timber supports, painted white with arched brackets parallel to eaves.
