Full Description
A basal fragment of a Samian ware vessel, sub-triangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section with a slightly curved profile, found near the garden of St Mary’s Church in Handbridge in 2010. A small amount of a potter's mark can be seen on the base. The fabric is very hard, light orange in colour and has an orange / red 'satin' gloss slip on both the inner and outer surface. The form of the fragment indicates that it is the base of a small bowl (1).
