Fragment of a Greyware vessel probably dating to the Roman period. The fragment is part of the side and base of a large vessel. The object has a dark grey fabric both internally and externally, is very hard and has been over-fired (1). It was found near the garden of St Mary’s Church in 2010, and is in private ownership. Greyware was one of the most common types of Roman pottery and was made throughout Britain. It was most common in the first and second centuries but in some places continued in use until the fourth century.
