Find Spot record 7526/1/2 - Roman and Romano British Finds from Townley Farm

Please read our .

Summary

A small group of Roman and Romano-British finds found during metal detecting rallies at Townley Farm. The objects included a 1st to mid 3rd century AD coin, a 1st or 2nd century T-shaped Bow Brooch with traces of orange and blue enamel and a silvered copper alloy knee brooch (AD 100-250) of a type usually used by military personnel. Some or all of these finds may be part of a possible hoard dispersed by ploughing (CHER 7526/1/1-4). Alternatively the concentration of finds may suggest a settlement, possibly associated with the Middlewich to Whitchurch road (see CHER 1189/1/0).

Some or all of these finds may be associated with the nearby dispersed hoard (CHER 7526/1/1-4), however these finds are clearly much ealier than the majority of the coins. Alternatively the concentration of finds may suggest a settlement, possibly associated with the Middlewich to Whitchurch road (see CHER 1189/1/0).
