Monument record 5040 - Middle Bronze Age at Oversley Farm

Excavation at Oversley Farm 1997-1998 in advance of runway expansion at Mancester Airport

This phase is represented by two isolated pits, neither of which can be linked to any structural features on the site. Pit 525 was an irregularly shaped cut aligned east-west and located in the north eastern corner of the site. The pit contained Deverel-Rimbury type pottery and was cut by a later pit containing iron working slag. Pit 357 was a rectangular feature in the northern sectiion of the hollow way. The fills suggest that the pit may have functioned as a domestic hearth.
