Full Description
GV II Almshouses in St.Mary's Churchyard situated north of the Church. A pair of early 17th century almshouses, built of red brick with stone dressing and tiled roof. They are single storey with an attic and have 2 bays each. The style is mock rustic,rusticated quoins, oak boarded doors in rusticated stone dressed openings with flat arches and keystones. Stone dressed 2-light mullion windows with leaded casements, now blocked. The attic windows,which are in the gables only, are two- light leaded casements in oak frames. There are small, stone dressed, single light windows at ground level in the gables and a single 2-light mullion window per house at the rear. The gable coping is of stone,with kneelers and a stone ridge and gable-end chimney stacks.
