Full Description
The Old Parish Hall in Malpas was originally the stables to the Old Rectory and is primarily 18th century in fabric with a remnant of 17th century roof and floor structure. In the 1940s it was converted for community purposes and to serve as the Parish Hall.
Examination of the internal fabric of the Old Parish Hall reveals that it was originally a timber framed building dating from the early 17th century, and therefore predates the Rectory. However, little of the original structure survives, and its present architectural form with brick external walls and a slate roof dates from the late 18th century, when the earlier building was reconstructed to serve as stables, with loose boxes and stabling below and a hay loft above.
