Summary

A sestertius from the rule of Hadrian (AD 117 - 138). The obverse has a bust of Hadrian, and the reverse has Jupiter seated. It was found in a wood near Heronbridge.

Sestertius of Hadrian. Obv: IMP CAE(SAR) TRAIANUS HADRIANUS AUG. Right laureate bust. Rev: PONT MAX (T) R POT COSI ( ) SC. Jupiter seated. See RIC vol 2 no.561 p.410. Mint of Rome. 119-121/2. Found in woods near Heronbridge and reported to the Grosvenor Museum (1).
