Summary

There was a mill in Coddington at Domesday, listed with three manors. The present mill dates to 1775 and is of local red brick with gray slate roof. There are three storeys under two parallel ridges, windows and concrete lintels are mid C20. There is an external hoist, loading doors on upper two storeys and massive softwood buffer on lower storey. Dovecote on ridge, square kiln chimney. Stone on north wall, repainted George & Mary Lowe 1775. Concrete and timber sluices. Mill-race modified to feed turbine. Interior: late C19 train of cast iron machinery, underdrift stones. Ancillary machinery includes grain sifter 1883. Turbine removed for restoration 1983. In process of being converted to a house in 1983.
