Summary

Stone built pinfold. The precise date in unknown, though Medieval and 18th century dates have been suggested. It is a 6 metre square enclosure with tooled red sandstone block walls. There is a gateway in the centre of the east side with simple stone gatepiers. The top of the wall has rounded coping. A pinfold is an animal enclosure for stray animals which were only released to their owners if they paid a fine.

Full Description

Stone built pinfold. Ref 1 suggests Medieval date, but ref 2 suggests probably 18th century. Tooled red sandstone blocks. 6m square enclosure with walls c.1.4m high with a rounded coping. Gateway in the center of the east side with simple stone gatepiers (2).
