Full Description
A Medieval road running from Platts Lane at Bruera to Eaton Boat, a ferry across the Dee. Earliest documentary reference dates from the 15th century. Dodgson suggests that the creation of the Buerton Approach, a drive leading to Eaton Hall, resulted in the closure of this road (1). Not shown on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition 25" Maps, except for in few places near Bruera (2). Clearly visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs dating from the 1940’s (3). Aerial photographs dating from 1999-2000 suggest that this feature has been ploughed out between SJ42906039 and SJ43516034 (4).
