Iron Works marked on the 25inch to 1 mile maps Ordnance Survey first edition maps, and the fourth edition 6inch to 1mile maps (source 2).

Evidence of the former iron works comprising concrete floors, brick foundations and a metal tank were recorded during an archaeological watching brief undertaken in 2023 during groundworks for a piling bed at 224 Wilderspool Causeway.
