The Grapes Brewery was purchased in 1851 by Francis Horden who subsequently founded C A Hordern & Co. It was acquired by the North Cheshire Brewery Company Ltd in 1910.

A building is visible on the southern part of the brewery site, but it is smaller than the building depicted on the 1873-4 map (see 1).

The relationship between the brewery depicted on the 1873-4 map (see 1) and the building depicted on the 1971 aerial photograph (see 3) is uncertain. It may indicate partial demolition of buildings on the site or a new building altogether.
