Aldford is an Eaton Estate Village and underwent remodeling in mid and late 19th century. The land to the south of the village was one of two open arable fields in which villages held rights confirmed by the tithe map of 1837. These rights still existed in the 1920s but, as they were no longer claimed, the boundary stones were removed and the meadow reclaimed.
