Summary

Grade II listed late late seventeenth to early eighteenth century. Building in brown brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. It has a symmetrical garden front with five windows. The central stone doorcase has a heavy moulded architrave and supports a flat projecting canopy. Inside, the oak close string stair has moulded rail, twisted balusters and square newels. In the attic it has altered turned balusters brought from Broxton Estate.

House, late seventeenth to early eighteenth century with additional wing and alterations. Brown brick, with stone dressings. Slate roof. Square, two storey house with attics and cellars. Symmetrical garden front with five windows. Replaced sashes with glazing bars, some recently unblocked, with gauged brick heads and header sills. Central stone door-case has heavy moulded architrave and supports flat projecting canopy. Moulded stone plinth and band and rusticated quoins. Replaced central brick stack. Cellar window has stone mullion. Interior: Oak close string stair has moulded rail, twisted balusters, and square newels. In attic it has altered turned balusters brought from Broxton estate. Stop chamfered beams, including inglenook bressummer. Panelling also brought from outside.

The place-name possibly derives from the Tyncoyd mentioned in a document of 1320. It possibly means the little holding by the wood or the house in the wood.
