Description

A heritage impact assessment, comprising an archaeological desk-based and setting assessment was produced in 2021 for the proposed Warrington Bank Quay Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP). This is ahead of the submission of a planning application for the proposed MSCP, which would comprise a five-storey, open-sided, naturally ventilated steel frame structure with 15 minutes fire resistance, utilising a combination of sloped and flat deck car park arrangement. The report identifies that the primary archaeological deposit for this site are railway tracks depicted on the First Edition OS Map (1893) and while some of these tracks will have been damaged by the construction of the current building, it is likely that spurs of the tracks remain below ground across the site. (1) NOTE: The locational information for the lime kilns (CHER 626/4/0), identified as wrongly located on p.9 of the report, has been rectified.
