Description
Watching brief undertaken in April 2017 to monitor the removal of topsoil during the continuing south-eastern extension of South Arclid Silica Sand Quarry, near Sandbach. The area of the topsoil strip comprised agricultural land located to the south of the existing quarry, measuring up 380m by 140m, an overall area of around 4ha. Removal of the topsoil revealed a network of land-drains, together with two marl pits and elements of a post-medieval field system. There was no evidence for any features or finds predating the 18th century. (1)
