Description

An earthwork survey of Maiden Castle was produced by J Forde-Johnston in the early 1960s, as part of his research on hillforts in Lancashire and Cheshire. The survey provides an outline plan of the inner and outer ramparts, apparently surviving much as they do now, but does not depict any of the interior quarrying, boundary banks or outer ditch. He stated that there was no indication of ditches at the site (1).
