Description
Site visit to record the concrete anchor points to the WWII road block (CHER 4069/0/3) removed during repair works to the bridge structure. The blocks were 0.8m tall and 0.6m x 06m square, widening at the upper end via an irregular flange to c.0.68m square. Located centrally in the upper surface was a flanged ceramic pipe, 0.34m at its widest aperture and 0.23m at its narrowest. Presumably the pipe would accommodate the posts or rails used to construct the road block. In total there were six anchor points, three at either end of the bridge’s road bed. The anchors points are to be reinstated.
