Description
Salvage recording of 2 trenches excavated to the rear of 8-12 Stanley Place in advance of the construction of a new school block for Queen's School. Trench 1 was excavated on an east-west alignment across the south end of the site with a second trench on a similar alignment some distance to the north.
The excavations revealed a mortar foundation at the east end of the trench containing only Roman pottery. The second trench identified two possible sandstone walls containing Roman pottery. They appear to line up with the foundations recorded in trench 1
