Description

Inspection of foundation trenches for a new sun room to the rear of Number 16 Queensgate, Northwich (to the north of the Roman fort) revealed a mixed topsoil (0.5m) overlying clean natural sand. No evidence of roman activity was detected. Niall Number 16 Queensgate, Northwich: Sun Room to rear (Ref 12/01405/FUL) This is just to confirm that I visited the above development yesterday in order to inspect the foundation trenches of the new sun room and in accordance with the archaeological condition. No Roman remains were in evidence but this is in accordance with the pattern to the north of the Roman fort and represents a further piece of helpful evidence on the distribution of archaeological remains in Northwich. I advise that any outstanding archaeological condition may now be discharged. Please get in contact if you wish to discuss matters further.
