Description

Excavations undertaken by F H Thompson in 1964 (5). Area excavated comprised the seating banks and arena on the southern boundary of the site as a preliminary step towards the stripping of the remainder of the overburden and consolidation of the structures revealed (2). This particular excavation came about when it was decided to face the newly constructed retaining wall with aggregate panels, which involved the cutting of a c 2m wide trench along the north face of the wall (5).
