Description
In 1768, at the Eastgate and Messrs Huxley's wine faults to the south, at the site of the Porta Principalis Sinistra, Roman archways and a sculptured relief of a Roman soldier with an inscription (now lost) were reported to have been removed in 1768, at the same time as excavations for a large drain were taking place in the cellars (1).
