Description

This event represents a rapid desk-based assessment addressing the archaeological implications raised by a light-touch landscaping project proposed for the South East Angle Tower garden. It was concluded that the site contains well-preserved remains of national interest in the form of in-situ masonry and unexcavated deposits relating to the Roman fortress wall and rampart, the Roman and later defensive ditch and the medieval and post-medieval gateway and adjacent structures (1).
