Description

An archaeological desk-based assessment which considers the archaeological implications of the Crewe Green Link Road and was produced for incorporation in the EIA prepared in support of the scheme. The proposed road will extend through open countryside for c 1km from the roundabout on the A500 to the present terminus of the link road (university way) immediately to the north of the railway. The report has identified a number of sites requiring mitigation including a former mill lieat, the parish boundary along the Basford Brook (good palaeoenvironmental potential from previous work in the area, other historic boundaries, and ridge and furrow. Archaeological mitigation will be required in these areas should the development proceed.
