Description
Geological test pits dug by hand in order to determine the nature and depth of underlying deposits.
Test pit 1 recorded no archaeological features.
Test pit 2 recorded the remains of a brick structure with a possible doorway, a ceramic drain and a possible cess pit.
Test pit 3 recorded cultivation soils and a rough mortar surface.
Test pit 4 recorded cultivation soils and a ceramic drain.
In conclusion there is a reasonable potential for further archaeological evidence in the area.
